BasiGo, a pioneering startup dedicated to electrifying public transportation in Kigali. BasiGo offers cutting-edge electric buses along with comprehensive charging and maintenance services.
BasiGo Rwanda has secured a significant funding boost of RWF 300 million (USD 225,000) from Ireme Invest, the green investment arm of the Rwanda Green Fund.
The allocated funds will be used to set up a modern charging station that can support at least 20 electric buses overnight. This is essential for supporting BasiGo’s expanding operations and smoothly integrating electric buses into Kigali’s public transportation system.
BasiGo Innovative Model
BasiGo’s approach to electric public transport is more than just providing buses. They offer a full solution for bus operators, including top-notch electric buses, dependable charging infrastructure, and efficient maintenance services.
BasiGo also uses a unique financing model to make electric buses more affordable. Operators can pay for the battery and charging services separately from the bus itself with a pay-as-you-go system. Plus, BasiGo’s pay-as-you-drive financing lets operators get electric buses without a hefty upfront cost. This innovative method eliminates a significant barrier for operators moving to electric vehicles, promoting a more sustainable transportation system in Kigali.
